Ghost Tire Memorial Honouring Eddie Rivera IV

  • Point Mugu Park – Sycamore Cove 9000 Pacific Coast Highway Malibu, CA, 90265 United States (map)

Join SAFE in honoring the memory of Eddie Rivera

Eddie "Buddy" Rivera IV

Streets Are For Everyone and the loved ones of Eddie "Buddy" Rivera IV will host a Ghost Tire Memorial to honor his life and call attention to the urgent need for safety improvements along Pacific Coast Highway (PCH).

Eddie Rivera, born in 1998, was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend known for his selflessness and dedication to helping others. On January 26, 2025, at just 26 years old, Eddie tragically lost his life on PCH while returning home after working long hours assisting with fire recovery efforts in Pacific Palisades.

Eddie brought joy, laughter, and light to the lives of many. Now, his community mourns his loss while channeling their grief into a movement for change.

Eddie’s death is a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers of PCH—a road notorious for reckless speeding and frequent traffic collisions.

Since 2010, there have been over 60 fatalities and over 2,500 injuries on this stretch of road, with excessive speed cited as the leading cause (Source: LA County Sheriff’s Department, TIMS).

For years, families and city officials have pleaded with Caltrans to implement comprehensive safety measures on PCH. Yet little progress has been made.

Eddie’s family, friends, SAFE Families members, and the broader community will gather not only to honor Eddie’s memory, but also to demand action: the installation of crash barriers, improved signage, speed limit enforcement, and other essential infrastructure to prevent future tragedies.
