Supporting Street Safety Activists

At Streets Are For Everyone, we pride ourselves on our advocacy work, lifting community voices on the need for safer streets for all road users.

Improving our streets is going to take an army of activists and advocates: changing minds from one of apathy, that nothing can be done, to one of hope, action, and real tangible change.

Advocacy for safe streets can come in many forms but focuses on creating a bettered condition.

Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.
— Frederick Douglass

Be that a protest to end street racing, a petition to improve safety on the roads going through a park, community forums with city leaders, so their voices are actually heard, supporting sensible legislation, or demanding engineers do their jobs to design our streets correctly. Many actions can be taken to elevate community voices for change.

All are in alignment with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, in particular, Goal 11: Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.

Our Current Advocacy Campaigns

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
— Martin Luther King, Jr.

“People make mistakes, but human mistakes don’t always have to be lethal. In a well-designed system, safety measures make sure that human fallibility does not lead to human fatalities”

Transportation Secretary, Pete Buttigieg

“We have to change a culture that accepts as inevitable the loss of tens of thousands of people in traffic crashes, this will require a transformational and collaborative approach to safety on our nation’s roads.”

Dr. Steven Cliff, former NHTSA Deputy Administrator
