Felipe Manuel Infante-Avalos

Felipe Manuel Infante-Avalos, fondly referred to as Pipé, was born on April 7th, 2008, and met a tragic end on November 8th, 2023, at the tender age of 15. On his way to school, Felipe was struck by a speeding and distracted driver while crossing at a marked crosswalk at 110th and Main St. Shockingly, the driver failed to stop and offer assistance or call for help after the violent collision. It is unimaginable for any parent to fear that their child might meet such a fate while simply walking to school. The profound sorrow and loss of a child at such an early stage of life should never be experienced by any mother.

My son embodied joy and positivity unfailingly. He was truly an angel, and his happiness was unwavering. My love for you is eternal, my king. We always knew you were a celestial being sent to guard over us.
— Adriana, Felipé's mother.

Felipe, who had autism, was a kind, gentle young man deeply cherished by his family. He participated in his school’s ROTC program and was passionate about sewing and crafting his own stuffed animals. His siblings and family miss him every day.

A Ghost Tire Memorial was placed for Felipe at the site of the crash on 110th and Main St. on December 17th, and the dedication was attended by extended family members and many friends. Although his mother, Adriana, recognizes that nothing can reunite her with her son, she aims to advocate for other families facing similar tragedies and for making the streets of South Los Angeles safer for all children.
