Damian Kevitt
Founder of Streets, Art, SAFE
Executive Director and Founder Streets Are For Everyone
-
Damian was raised in Los Angeles, CA, and prefers, whenever he can, to get around on his bicycle. He was schooled in the sciences – studying marine biology at UCSB and microbiology at U of A. Damian later became a professional counselor at his church, where he worked for well over 25 years counseling and helping both staff and parishioners.
His life took a sudden turn in Feb 2013 when he was hit by a car, that never stopped, while bicycling in Griffith Park. Barely surviving and losing his right leg, Damian got back on his bicycle and started his quest to not only finish the ride he was on but also use what happened to him to make the streets safer for all.
Currently, Damian leads SAFE’s programs to improve street safety to help make Southern California a better place. Damian also enjoys bicycling around LA, running, taking photographs, and caring for his tropical fish.

Kylea-Rose has been volunteering with SAFE since the first Finish The Ride.
In 2019, she took over running SAFE's unique Streets, Art, SAFE High School education program, expanding the competition year after year and spreading the message of street safety to youth through student-led, visual arts.
More recently, Kylea stepped up to become the Deputy Executive Director, managing SAFE’s marketing, communications, and websites, among other things.
When not passionately advocating for safer roads, you can often find Kylea cycling, swimming, gardening, or creating her own art.

Brenda Cárdenas

Brenda is a graphic designer and Illustrator who is passionate about using visual graphics and art as a means of communication to help others and get the word out on important social causes.
Her work for SAFE includes creating graphic material for social media, printed promo, creating infographics, illustration and even designing the medals for Finish The Ride & Run events!
Having been a victim of traffic violence herself in 2021 after getting hit by a car while riding her bike, she immediately got interested in SAFE after finding out about the organization, as she believes everyone deserves the right to move around the city without fearing for their life.
A native Spanish speaker, she is also fluent in English.
When she's not creating graphic design for SAFE, she enjoys drawing, playing video games, creating clay pieces, or getting out and enjoying nature.
