Our Halloween FTR Was a Success!!

Thank you to every single one of you who attended or supported our 6th Annual Finish The Ride and Finish The Run Halloween event! The event was a success drawing hundreds of runners and cyclists in celebration of Halloween and in support of safe streets. It was our 2nd Halloween event and we were excited to be back!

The event drew 500+ participants from all over California in support of saving lives and making safer streets in our communities.

Activities included 3 rides with several levels of difficulty from a 12-mile family ride to a challenging Metric Century and a fun 5K and 10K Costume Run — all along the numerous paths in Santa Clarita.

Our opening ceremony included the presentation of a bicycle to a family in need, courtesy of one of our top sponsors, Karns & Karns. The bicycle was presented to 9-year-old Carla, who lost her father Jorge Guerra in 2020. On July 8, 2020, 37-year-old Jorge Guerra was riding his bicycle when he was hit by a speeding driver who suddenly turned a corner and slammed into Jorge. He was thrown from his bike, suffered a traumatic brain injury, and passed away 8 days later. The individual sped away from the scene. Carla’s brother Abraham was at the event to accept the bicycle for Carla and is pictured here with our Executive Director, Damian, and Bill Karns of Karns & Karns.

Expo activities included: Raffle and Costume Contest hosted by Miss California Pre-Teen, Daniella Bernard, who did an awesome job calling out winners and handing out trophies! We are grateful for her participation.

THANK YOU to all who joined us on October 30th in support of Streets Are For Everyone! It is because of you that we can continue to make a difference in the community and advocate for changes that are needed to make streets safer in Southern California. And thanks to all of our volunteers, we quite literally could not do it without all of you.
