One Weekend. One Community. One Mission: Safer Streets.

And a Call to Action in Griffith Park

This past 12th annual Finish The Ride and Run Griffith Park was an incredible success, and that’s because everyone showed up to spread not only good energy but also pressure to create a community that is more welcoming to cyclists and runners.

Between riders, runners, volunteers, and spectators, almost 2,000 people were there. And it wasn’t just a crowd—it was a community. That kind of atmosphere only happens when there’s care and intention behind every detail.

Events like this don’t just promote safer streets. They bring people together, offer hope, and show the world what’s possible when a team like ours pours everything into a cause we believe in.

Who Are You Finishing For?

In keeping with the event's mission, we invited participants to finish their ride or run for someone and place that name on a banner asking, “Who are you finishing for?

This gesture honors those who have suffered their own trauma, physical or mental, and have been able to overcome it.

It also remembers those who have been lost due to a tragedy, large or small. This year, the banner was the fullest we’ve ever seen!

The Mission

But the work of Finish the Ride and Run Griffith Park doesn’t start and end with a single weekend. SAFE continues to urge the city to prioritize safety for all who walk, run, and ride in Griffith Park and along the connecting LA River Bike Path.

In the lead-up to the event, our dedicated volunteers and staff organized a Clean Ride Crew event. They rode the paths to identify hazards like cracked pavement, overgrown plants, and debris. More importantly, they spend hours improving conditions for everyone.

Unfortunately, year after year, the city has not addressed these areas of concern along the paths. While the city is taking some steps to address these problems in the long term, the dangers exist now for those using them today and tomorrow. We cannot continue to wait years for repairs to be made. Cyclists and runners should be able to safely use city amenities without risking injury.

How You Can Help

SAFE invites you to lend your voice and take action by joining SAFE’s Griffith Park Action Team. Our past efforts have helped close roadways to cars and fund future projects along Forest Lawn Drive and Crystal Springs Drive. This is just the beginning. Together, we can advocate for one of the country’s largest urban parks to be safer and more accessible for cyclists, runners, and pedestrians.

If you don’t have the time to volunteer or don’t live near Griffith Park, please support our continuing efforts with a meaningful donation. Even a five-dollar donation shows your support and goes far to make a difference.

Your passion, effort, and commitment to a safer world are deeply valued and needed.

Thank You!

And finally, from all of us at SAFE, thank you. To our incredible sponsors, dedicated volunteers, and all the vendors who showed up and gave their all—Finish The Ride and Finish The Run wouldn’t be what they are without you. Your energy, heart, and support help power everything we do for road safety long after the last rider crosses the finish line.
