We Crushed It at Griffith Park: Finish The Ride & Finish The Run 2024

Dust is still settling on our sneakers, and the cheering still echoes in our ears – what an amazing weekend! We just wrapped up our biggest and best Finish The Ride and Finish The Run Griffith Park ever on April 6th and 7th. It was a triumphant return to The Autry Museum after a few years away, and the energy was incredible.

A record-breaking ride and run!

This year, we saw a remarkable 10% increase in registrations compared to 2023, with 2,030 people signing up to conquer the challenge – hitting the course running and pedaling for safer streets.

Finish The Run was a massive success, with 1,199 runners. Meanwhile, Finish The Ride saw 604 cyclists conquer the scenic Griffith Park routes. The enthusiasm was contagious, and the sense of community was truly inspiring.

It's more than just a ride and run – it's a movement!

Finish The Ride and Finish The Run is more than just a weekend event; it's a movement for safer streets for everyone in California. Every year, countless participants come together, united by a shared vision of a future free from traffic fatalities – a leading cause of death in the United States. Some ride or run in memory of loved ones lost, while others are driven by a deep desire to make a difference. Regardless of their motivation, every single participant makes a vital contribution to our cause.

Over $147,000 Raised to Fuel Safer Streets!

The participation wasn't the only record we broke this year! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our sponsors, donors, and participants, we surpassed our fundraising goals and brought in $147,457.80.

These funds will be instrumental in supercharging our mission to make California streets safer for everyone. Your contributions will directly support our programs, including:

  • SAFE Support: free support for those who need a helping hand after a traffic collision or for family members who have lost a loved one due to traffic violence.

  • Policy and Legislation: supporting sensible legislation to make our roads safer and educating legislators on policies that could harm vulnerable road users.

  • Advocacy & Activism: improving our streets takes an army of activists and advocates to change minds in order to make roads safer, especially when elected officials think the status quo on our streets is acceptable.

  • Streets, Art, SAFE Film Competition: a unique high school film competition where Hollywood filmmakers help mentor students to make creative and impinging road safety public service announcements.

  • Research, Documentation, and Reporting: holding elected officials accountable for safer roads and changing their minds requires work to research, document, and report on road safety inequities.

  • Faith for SAFEr Streets: a core of faith leaders passionate about road safety issues in their communities and who fight for change through their congregations and with elected officials.

  • Clean Ride Crew: A grassroots, all-volunteer team of cyclists and community members who make bike paths safer for use by cleaning up trash and advocating for local elected officials to do more for cycling.

A weekend filled with memories!

Finish The Ride and Finish The Run isn't just about numbers. It's about the stories, the connections, and the shared passion for creating a city where everyone feels safe using our streets. Want to relive the excitement? Find your photos from Finish The Run here and Finish The Ride here.
