Is it just me?!? It seems like I can’t live a single day without hearing the latest depressing, mind-boggling, political theater happening in our city, our state, and especially at the federal level? It’s like reality-TV hell—and it’s EXHAUSTING! But maybe that’s the whole point. Well, I can’t fix all that, but I can tell you that what we do at SAFE is NOT political theater, focused on pointing fingers or covering things up. Thanks to your help and advocacy, we ARE making a difference, and it’s not all bad and depressing. In fact, while we were putting this newsletter together, two major successes came through that SAFE directly helped make happen. They aren’t covered here, but you’ll see them in future issues—so keep an eye out. All that said, we have a challenge at SAFE. If you look at this map of SAFE Grassroots Advocacy Projects, you’ll see we have 28 different advocacy projects happening across Southern California. Most don’t know about everything we’re doing—because I’ve never told you! Hell, even most of my staff don’t know ALL the different projects we are working on. There’s simply too much happening at once. So, over the next several newsletters, we are going to be talking about ALL of our projects—and improving our website so you can track progress as it happens.
