Our 4th Annual Finish The Ride Event Draws Close To A Thousand in Support of Safer Streets!

4 years ago, Finish The Ride started as an inspiring event to help end the epidemic of hit and run crimes in arguably what has become known as the hit and run capital of the United States. Since that time, Finish The Ride has grown from just a ride to a multi-faceted Finish The Ride, Run, Walk N' Roll event encompassing cyclists, runners, walkers and rollers. The message: no matter what happens in life, the best way to deal with it is to get back up and "Finish The Ride."

This year's event marked the 4th year returning to the Autry Museum on May 21st. With close to a thousand in attendance, it was the largest FTR event since its inauguration in 2014. This year the event benefited Streets Are For Everyone and Walk N' Rollers.

Activities included several rides from a 6 mile Family Fun Ride to a grueling 50 mile ride with over 4,000 feet of elevation gain; runs from a 5K to a Half Marathon on the trails around beautiful Griffith Park.

Cyclists were treated to free RIDE SAFE and RIDE STRONG cycling clinics taught by Olympic Cyclist and 4 time WORLD champion, David Brinton. These were offered prior to our Half Century and 30 mile rides giving the cyclists helpful safety tips to use along our most challenging routes. This year we were honored and privileged to partner with the Walk N' Rollers (a project of the LACBC). They brought their Kids' Bicycle Safety Festival to our event, providing fun and educational activities for families and children in attendance. Walk N' Rollers mission is to empower school age children and their parents through education and training to safely and responsibly bike, walk, skate and scoot to and from school. Our opening ceremony featured special speakers such as city councilman Mitch O' Farrell, Bruce Gillman from Vision Zero and LADOT and Jim Shanman, Founder of Walk N' Rollers as well as our ED Damian Kevitt.

Participants from all events were awarded awesome finishing medals, great t-shirts and treated to live music from House of 3 and Big Daddy T. There were also excellent raffle prizes, free beer courtesy of Erdinger and sponsor swag at the end event festival.

To all who joined us and to all of our sponsors, THANK YOU from SAFE and Walk N' Rollers!! Hope to see you at the next one in September. For more information, visit
